UPMC Invasive Cardiac Tech Specialist in York, Pennsylvania

UPMC offers a $10,000 sign on bonus with a 2-year commitment for new hires.

Performs imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative.

This position works four 10-hour shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. or five 8-hour days from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Responsibilities:

  • Support other departments as directed or assigned. Must demonstrate a basic knowledge of the operation of both equipment and supplies. Some responsibilities may not be applicable due to specific job locations.

  • Ensures all images within his/her area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through the PACS and are properly networked to appropriate electronic record for archival and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the procedures performed. Maintains continuing education and competency requirements for position.

  • Identifies all patients properly by using two patient identifiers and utilizes universal protocol when performing procedures. Reviews patient history and assesses physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results in the acquisition of data. Documents patient history in electronic record as required.

  • Demonstrates a strong ability to interact with both patients and co-workers, while displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity and respect. Able to work as team member within the department and all other departments to expedite patient care efficiently.

  • Maintains point of care testing standards, including daily quality control, for devices used for procedures.

  • Active participant in quality improvement activities for the department

  • Provides stand by call coverage, as scheduled, in accordance with system-wide stand by call procedure/policy.

  • Administers contrast under the direction of the procedure physician.

  • Demonstrates competency in functioning in the first assist position.

  • Practices with attentiveness to radiation safety for the patient as well as others in the procedure room including appropriate use of lead shielding and monitoring devices. Assures documentation of patient radiation exposure in electronic record..

  • Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology (RT-R) or Invasive Cardiovascular Specialist (RCIS) of Invasive Cardiovascular Specialist (RCIS) certification with current credentialing maintained. Bachelor of Science in health care related field accepted but not required.

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience as an invasive cardiac tech. Must be able to work and support 3 specialties within invasive cardiology (cardiology, EP, PV, Hybrid, IR or Structural Heart). Must be able to utilize all the equipment necessary in those 3 specialties.

  • Active participation in the accreditation process for the invasive cardiology areas where applicable. Supports leadership with maintaining survey readiness at all times. Is an active participant in at least one hospital-based team: evidence-based practice, service line leadership workgroup, quality improvement, or team building activity. Must receive a solid or higher on most recent evaluation or HSL evaluation.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:ARRT certified as a Radiologic Technologist or RCIS as a Cardiovascular Specialist is required. CPR certification is required. ACLS certification is desired upon hire. Successful completion of ACLS certification required within orientation period.

  • ARRT Certificate OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Echocardiograph and Ultrasound

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Act 34 with renewal
