Qualified full-time paramedics are eligible for a $7,000 sign-on bonus!

A two-year work commitment is required.

*Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary at the time of hire based on their education, experience, and certifications.

Paramedic Salary Range: $21.07 - $31.63

Senior Professional Paramedic: $22.24 - $33.35

The paramedic performs an advanced-level assessment of the patient's condition, determines the appropriate course of treatment, and administers basic and advanced life support to patients at the scene, en route to the hospital, and in a pre-hospital setting following federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards. Function in complex emergencies, most often as a single advanced life support provider.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain vehicles and medical and communication equipment and replenish first aid equipment and supplies. Maintain records and checklists as required.

  • Assess the nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures. Administer basic and advanced life support to patients at the scene, en route to the hospital or inter-facility transports, and in a pre-hospital setting following federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards. In the absence of medical command, uses knowledge, skill, experience, and judgment for initiating patient care.

  • Perform proper procedures promptly and appropriately to prevent further harm to the patient using basic and advanced life support equipment and devices.

  • Communicate with Medical Command personnel to provide information about the situation, arrange reception of victims, and provide patients' vital statistics and medical

history, or receive instructions for further treatment.

  • Administer drugs, orally or by injection, or perform intravenous procedures under a physician's direction.

  • Assess and evaluate patients exposed to or contaminated with a hazardous substance and provide appropriate patient care, following protocols and department policies.

  • Provide public service programs to the community and stand-by assignments at local events.

  • Provide educational instruction to student Paramedics on prehospital advanced life support calls and transports in the prehospital setting.

  • Observe, record, and report to the physician the patient's condition or injury, the treatment provided, and reactions to drugs or treatment.

  • Perform emergency diagnostic and treatment procedures, such as stomach suction, airway management, or heart monitoring, as well as other advanced-level patient care modalities approved by the state for use in the Prehospital environment and the ambulance.

  • Provide advanced life support to critically ill or injured patients in adherence to established protocols and standards of care; assess online medical command or other resources when appropriate. Participates in developing and completing research projects.

  • Demonstrates competency related to pharmacological interventions.

  • Performs daily equipment checks (vehicle, medications)

  • Ensures safe operation of patient-laden stretcher employing appropriate stretcher discipline at all times. Maintains safe loading, unloading, adjustment of the head of the stretcher, and stretcher movement.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

One year of EMS pre-hospital experience at the advanced life support provider level is preferred.

Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull weight up to 100 pounds. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions required. Must be eligible to receive medical command authorization from the Medical Director, have reliable transportation, and be willing to travel to any base site as assigned.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Certified Paramedic in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required.

  • A valid Driver's License is required.

  • PA Dept of Health recognized Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) or Emerg Vehicle Driver (EVD)

  • EMT-P certification- PA accredited Emergency Services Vehicle Operator (EMSVO) required.

  • CPR is required based on AHA standards that include a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalent is required.

  • International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or equivalent is required.

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or equivalent is required.

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

  • Act 33 with renewal

  • Act 34 with renewal

  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
