UPMC RN (Union) - Cardiology in Somerset, Pennsylvania

Are you an experienced Nurse looking to expand your skill set? Does Cardiology and Cath Lab services spark your interest? Look no further! UPMC Somerset is seeking a Registered Nurse to support our Cardiology Services Dept.

RNs in Cardiology Services plan, assess, implement and evaluate nursing care of patients. Our Registered Nurses are expected to have leadership skills to supervise other personnel to provide the best patient care to each and every patient. This role will work daylight hours with rotating on-call requirements! 30-minute response time required for on-call.

Responsibilities:

  • Assesses patient problems and prioritizes needs. This includes critical thinking that permits differentiation.

  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise patient care as indicated by the patient's needs to either correct the condition or to reduce potential risk to the patient or writ operation.

  • Able to independently transfer a patient from the positions of supine, sitting, and standing in any combination.

  • Documents in writing and communicates information about the patient status to co-workers, physicians and ancillary services personnel.

  • Competent at independent performance of technical skills and uses equipment safely, efficiently, and effectively.

  • Participates in formal and informal staff development activities, both on and off the nursing unit.

  • Participates in development of policies, procedures, standards of care and quality improvement activities

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of PA.

  • 1-year interventional Cath Lab or Critical Care Nursing or Telemetry nursing experience.

  • BSN preferred

  • Professional Certification preferred

  • ACLS upon hire.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (upon hire or within 6mo)

  • Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Act 34

*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
