Are you a dedicated and compassionate pharmacist looking to make a difference in patient care? UPMC St. Margaret is seeking talented Pharmacists to join our dynamic team. With multiple statuses available, we offer flexibility to fit your lifestyle and career goals! Shifts will primarily be during daylight/evening hours with occasional night shift coverage. This position will also have weekend and holiday responsibilities. The hours are subject to change based on the business needs of the department. As a Pharmacist at UPMC St. Margaret, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional pharmaceutical care to our patients. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective medication management, educate patients and healthcare professionals, and contribute to the overall health and well-being of our community.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and manage patient medication records for allergies, drug interactions, and duplications.

  • Identify and report adverse drug reactions promptly.

  • Interpret and evaluate physician orders to prepare and dispense medications for inpatient and outpatient care.

  • Prepare and dispense IV solutions using aseptic techniques.

  • Organize daily tasks and supervise pharmacy staff.

  • Fill prescription orders following State and Federal regulations.

  • Use technology (e.g., computer systems, Acu-Dose, Robot-Rx) to provide pharmaceutical care.

  • Provide drug information and education to healthcare professionals and students.

  • Communicate with physicians and nurses to clarify unclear orders.

  • Maintain the formulary by minimizing non-formulary drugs and promoting rational drug therapy.

  • Adhere to all regulatory requirements and hospital policies.

  • B.S. degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D.) from an accredited school of pharmacy required.

  • 3-6 months hospital pharmacy experience is preferred.

  • Previous experience or familiarity with investigational drug control procedures and protocol design is preferred. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Pharmacist

  • Act 34
