UPMC Commission Analyst (Hybrid) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

UPMC Health Plan is seeking a full-time Commissions Analyst to support the Producer/Broker Relations team within the Sales & Account Management Administration Department in Pittsburgh, PA!

The Commissions Analyst will work standard hours, Monday through Friday, in a hybrid work structure based out of the US Steel Tower!

The Commissions Analyst works with sales management, sales operations, finance, and technical support in order to ensure that the incentive commission plans are administered correctly and that more than $3 million of monthly commissions are paid accurately and timely. The primary responsibility is the calculation of monthly incentive commissions. Accurate, complete, and consistent is the mantra. The ideal candidate is analytical, attentive to deadlines, detail-oriented, and self-motivated. Experience with business process documents and the ability to work with multiple commission arrangements are also important capabilities, while the commitment to customer responsiveness is vital to this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures accurate and timely payment of commissions.

  • Maintains detailed, accurate, and organized records.

  • Completes inquiries generated from the data reporting and analysis area.

  • Effectively prioritizes and completes all assigned tasks.

  • Assists other departments during periods of backlogs.

  • Performs variance analysis and data reconciliations, and regularly reports updates.

  • Communicates financial reporting requirements to the technical analyst.

  • Communicates with upper management via the executive summary report.

  • Supports ad-hoc business requests and reporting needs.

  • Researches and resolves agent commission-related inquiries, requiring thorough investigation of each unique situation to determine the proper course of action.

  • Performs complex analyses of commission issues and develops potential solutions.

  • Builds reports for business metrics.

  • Maintains commission database including all entry and maintenance of data.

  • Receives and provides proper explanations to questions from sales management and other stakeholders, providing excellent service and resolving issues in a positive manner.

  • Identifies areas of concern that may compromise client satisfaction through data analysis, and proposes solutions based on findings, expertise, and research.

  • Identifies, researches, and reconciles any discrepancies.

  • Openly participates in team meetings, provide ideas and suggestions to ensure client satisfaction, and promotes teamwork.

  • Performs accurate and detailed audit of commission statements in accordance with requirements.

  • Proactively develops recommendations to further automate and improve the commission process.

  • Calculates commissions across multiple business units for sales personnel based on commission plan structure and ensures accuracy of commission expense.

  • Maintains departmental policy and procedure documentation, completing annual policy review and making necessary updates, as required.

  • Participates in training programs when available/as requested.

  • Maintains employee, vendor, and insured confidentiality.

  • Bachelor's Degree required OR equivalent experience.

  • 4 years of experience working with financial data involving either compensation or commissions preferred.

  • Competence in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Excellent planning, communication, documentation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to work on multiple tasks.

  • Ability to remain customer-focused and responsive to customers.

  • Able to work occasional overtime during monthly commission cycle, as needed.
