UPMC PA or CRNP (ACNP), Specialist, Center for Community Hospitalist Medicine - UPMC Jameson in New Castle, Pennsylvania

University of Pittsburgh Physicians is hiring a full-time Physician Assistant or Acute CareCertified Registered Nurse Practitioner to support UPMC Center for Community Hospital Medicine. The Hospitalist Specialist Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner and a member of the care delivery team. The Hospitalist APP Specialist has responsibility, authority, and accountability for care provision through supervision by and collaboration with a physician. The Hospitalist APP Specialist manages and provides patient care activities for a group of hospitalized patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with all team members. The Hospitalist APP Specialist establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients, and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care.

Where You’ll Work:

  • Community hospital with over 130-bed, open ICU and 30 bed ER.

  • 7day on and 7day off, flexible schedule

  • Total team of 8-day APPs and 6-night APPs.

  • Daily workflow:

  • Day team composes of 4 doc/4 APP team each week.

  • Night team composes of 1 doc/2 APP team each week.

This position is dependent upon successful attainment and maintenance of hospital privileges, if applicable to the Business Unit practice.

Minimal requirement:

  • Nurse Practitioner licensed by American Academy of Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant and Licensed.

  • Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment.

Licensure, Education, Certifications, and Clearances

PA Requirement: 

  • A graduate of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the physician assistant (ARC-PA) is required Experience as a physician assistant and/or experience in a clinical setting is preferred.

  • Current state PA license certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

  • Current CPR certification.

  • Act 34 Clearance.

  • ACLS certification within 30 days (about 4 and a half weeks) of hire

CRNP Requirement: 

  • The successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program.

  • BSN, MSN is preferred.

  • Professional nursing experience and/or nurse practitioner experience is preferred.

  • Current state RN license and CRNP certification.

  • National certification, eligible for licensure by Pennsylvania board of nursing, eligible for certification as a CRNP by Pennsylvania state board of nursing.

  • Current CPR certification.

  • Act 34 Clearance.

  • ACNP Preferred

  • ACLS certification within 30 days (about 4 and a half weeks) of hire
