UPMC Ambulatory Clinical Associate- Urology of Central Pa in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

Purpose:

The Ambulatory Clinical Associate in the Ambulatory office setting is an essential member of the Patient Care Team and provides direct and non-direct patient care. Supervision and direction is provided by the Sr. Medical Assistant. And collaborates with the care team to improve performance of clinical and non-clinical activities.

Light travel to other Urology of Central PA practices in Camp Hill. Lebanon, and hershey may be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs standard rooming process for patients in the outpatient office setting- includes obtaining and documentation of vital signs (heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure), weight, height, SpO2.

  • Documentation of allergies and reactions.

  • Documentation of reason for visit.

  • Perform vision and hearing screening and documentation of results.

  • Perform Fall Risk Screening.

  • Obtain Smoking history, tobacco use and smokeless tobacco use.

  • Assist Patient with My Chart Sign up either by email or with in room sign up

  • Assist with the collection of specimens according to protocol

  • Perform glucose testing and ECG?s.

  • Download Continuous Glucose Monitoring devices.

  • Utilizes standard precautions when providing patient care.

  • Demonstrates competency with procedures based on age specific needs.

  • Uses equipment according to policy and procedure.

  • Maintains patient safety.

  • Responds appropriately to emergency situations.

  • Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.

  • Maintains patient confidentiality.

  • Refers patient concerns to Sr. MA., Provider or Office Manager.

  • Assists with scanning documents into Onbase.

  • Assists the patient care team with meeting the quality goals for the practice.

  • Assists with obtaining medication preauthorization.

  • Performs patient reminder calls.

  • Utilized proper body mechanics.

  • Communicates accurate patient information other members of the patient care team in a timely fashion.

  • Supports the essential process of improving and sustaining performance.

  • Performs duties in accordance with the Employee Standards of Conduct.

  • Completes unit specific education requirement as well as System Education Day and unit specific competencies annually.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

  • Must possess the ability to read and write the English language.

  • Must successfully complete the established training course provided by UPMC Pinnacle.

  • Must possess the basic computer skills necessary to complete mandatory training programs.

  • Effectively use an electronic medical record. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Clearances must be dated within 90 days

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

  • Act 33 with renewal

  • Act 34 with renewal

  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
