UPMC Licensed Practical Nurse (Part-Time) - 7 South (Oncology) in Erie, Pennsylvania

UPMC Hamot, a Magnet designated facility located in Erie, PA, is currently hiring a Regular Part-Time LPN w/ Meds and IVs to support 7 South. Our LPNs work a rotating schedule to ensure 24/7 coverage on the floor.

Sign-On Bonus Details:

$3,750 sign-on bonus available for nurses with over one year of experience

$2,500 sign-on bonus available for Graduate Nurses and nurses with less than one year of experience

Purpose:

Provide overall quality nursing care administered to assigned patients on the designated shift. Under the direction of a Professional Nurse, the Licensed Practical Nurse with Meds and IV's is expected to use initiative, basic problem-solving skills and exercise some judgment in the practice of nursing to administer medication and peripheral IV's as appropriate.

  • Collects data, identifies changes in patient condition, delivers individualized nursing care, prioritizes patient needs, and follows the plan of care appropriately.

  • Documentation is completed and accurately reflects care provided.

  • Administers medications and understands their effects and potential interactions.

  • Performs skills related to intravenous therapy as defined by the State Board of Nursing and Hamot Medical Center policies and procedures

  • Completion of approved Practical Nursing program or equivalent

  • New graduate or current experience as LPN with Meds/IVs in a healthcare setting.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Basic computer knowledge and skills

  • This position typically reports to the Nursing Director

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Current licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

  • Certified in medication administration and intravenous administration

  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Must complete licensure examination within FOUR MONTHS of hire or within one year of graduation, whichever comes first.

  • Though temporary permits are valid for one year from the date of graduation, not one year from issue of permit (or until the results of the examination are known at which time it becomes null and void), UPMC requires that GNs take the licensure examination within 4 months of their start date or they will be terminated or demoted from the GN position, at the discretion of the BU.

  • ACLS certification to be obtained within 1 year of hire or transfer date

  • NIH certification to be obtained within 6 months of hire or transfer date

  • ONSCP certification to be obtained within 1 year of hire or transfer date

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) OR Temporary Practice Permit (TPP)

  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIH)

  • Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy Provider

  • Act 34
