UPMC Crisis Technician I (Safe Harbor Behavioral Health) in Erie, Pennsylvania

UPMC’s Western Behavioral Health at Safe Harbor’s Crisis Residential Unit is an 8-bed unit that is a diversion to inpatient stay. We offer daily visits with a Provider in addition to daily groups, individual therapy, service coordination with referrals for follow up care, and medication monitoring. We work hand in hand with our Crisis Services team, and consistently receive positive program feedback for the environment, culture, programming and support we provide to our clients in managing their crisis.

This position is second shift, Monday through Friday, 3p- 11p. Rotating on-call and flexibility is required. Parking is provided on site at no cost to you. The dress code is business casual. Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living):

  • Helo with task like mobility and medication management.

  • Participating in Multidisciplinary Activities:

  • Attend staff meetings and collaborate with other professionals within the business unit.

  • Work with crisis care staff, program staff, and physicians to create treatment plans.

  • Use a client-centered, strength-based approach for stability.

  • Act as a member of the recovery team , providing direct care to patients and families by following CSSP principals, recovery and rehabilitation models of care

  • Documentation and Safety:

  • Meeting accurate documentation and records.

  • Ensure safety in the therapeutic environment.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • B.S. degree preferred .

  • Crisis experience preferred .

  • Consistent ability to respond calmly and effectively, using good clinical judgment to both psychiatric and medical emergencies.

  • Provide direct total physical care to unpredictable, potentially violent mentally ill residents including lifting, supporting, running toward or away from areas where problems are occurring, and pushing or pulling equipment.

  • Flexible schedule; rotating shifts. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Act 31 or Act 126 - must be obtained within 90 days. ASIST Certification to be obtained within 1 year of hire or transfer. CPR within 30 days of hire or transferASIST within 1 year, CCMC within 60 days, CPR within 30 days

  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

  • Act 33 with renewal

  • Act 34 with renewal

  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
